Memorials

There are two memorials in the garw valley :-
The War Mamorial Image

This memorial has been placed on the lawn of the police station in Pontycymer.
As laid out on the main face, this is a memorial to ALL the fallen heros of The Garw Valley who bravley gave their lives for this country in times of war.

The second memorial in the valley is to the miners who lost their lives in Llest collirey on August 18 1899.

Perhaps the worst thing that strikes you is how young they were, the oldest is just 44 and the youngest is 13.

There is a plaque on the side of the dram with all the names of the lost miners.
The names are remembered and set out below.
